Resin Ball-jointed dolls, or BJDs, are artistic sculpts that articulate into different positions and appearances. They are one of our common interests and the provocateurs on this story. They tend to assert themselves as characters forcefully, like marionettes or masks do. Sometimes the character comes first, and sometimes we get passionate about a sculpt or the potentional to change a sculpt, without knowning quite who they’ll turn out to be. Our job, as mudang, is to listen receptively and try to shape its emergence.
