The Power of Imagination

———————————————————————————–
Emma comments, “It’s about time for more of the lidocaine and oil mix, isn’t it?”

Emma says, “Stop trying to be stoic about it!”

However, what Dance is trying hard to do, in a strange place, is to imagine that they are all back home, sitting together in their usual big Drin-sized chair. He’s working hard to convince himself.

Dance is trying hard to imagine this is all happening at home, quiet, safe.

If he thinks hard, Dance can make the tail visible for them now. It’s a silly joke, but sometimes he makes it look like a very fake rubber snake, like the first time he really used that tail.

A lot of its behavior is reflexive. He has to be calm to keep it from knocking things over when they hurt him.

Drin and Emma are careful, spreading the mixture on the areas that are peeling, but even on the second shedding, the nerves twinge, rather like a bad sunburn in places.

It’s not as bad as the first time he went through shedding at all. Then he couldn’t stand anything touching the new tissue.

It shouldn’t work, but he says it really helps to have them hold him.

Challenge: both ‘Cornered’ and ‘Diamond’
Title: The Power of Imagination
Rating (G through NC-17): FRM
Dolls: Dance, Emma, Drin (DollTiD, hybrid Sylvia head on Elfdoll body, Minimee head on Flexi-perennial body)

Writers’ notes: I think story parts listing is getting long, so Part Seventeen is “Accidental Beauty,” and it took on a new week’s prompt, “Diamond.” Part Eighteen is “You Didn’t Ask.”
The latest, Part Nineteen, was “At the Swimmin’ Hole.”

It occurred to me that it’d been awhile since I posted some doll pix of what’s been going on in this story.
I also happened to think that there’s a couple of things that deserve some attention that I’ve been neglecting.

Credits:
The wonderful 1/3 scale jar and footed plate that Drin is using were made by , who is also a very skilled historical potter. I plan to make better use of these lovelies in future, but for right now, they are entrusted with the magical mixture of baby oil and lidocaine rash ointment which Emma came up with to soothe that tender, raw new tail growing out so rapidly from Dance’s tail bones.

In addition, Drin has a new sweater made by . I think I speak for all of us when I say I adore these sweaters, and there will have to be more and better closeups of this one, which looks flatteringly perfect on Drin. Let’s reserve that for a night when I’m not scrambling around packing for a trip for work!
Emma is wearing a new pair of green paid pants with ruffled lace cuffs made for her by a few weeks ago, and this is the first chance Emma has had to show them off. They fit wonderfully. I think she should go dancing in them. However, the guys are looking at me like, “You’ll have to redo that glue-sueding thing before I’m ready to tango with Emma, okaaaay?”
So, there’s lots of pix behind the ljcut. If images of reptiles bug you, enjoy the pix here in front and skip the rest.
This is part of the dollstory series where Dance has, for various excellent reasons, acquired a troublesome extra appendage. If you want to catch up on the backstory, let me know and I’ll add you to the lj filter for that when I get back again.
